The world’s most sought-after defender, Josko Gvardiol, is edging closer to joining Etihad. If this becomes a reality, Man City will have not just one, but two Erling Haalands in their squad.

“I can confirm that Josko Gvardiol and his representatives have expressed their desire to move to Man City,” revealed Leipzig’s sporting director, Max Eberl. “We are in negotiations with Man City. That’s all I can say at the moment.”

This news couldn’t be more thrilling for Man City fans. With the openness of their potential partner, the success of this deal seems highly probable. And when it comes to pursuing players, City always finds a way to get the job done.

Unlike the case of Declan Rice, Man City is taking Gvardiol more seriously. Both parties are actively working to make the Croatian player the most expensive defender of all time, commanding a fee of €100 million. Clearly, Leipzig is still holding out for “two and a bit more,” but they have already come to terms with the fact that they stand to profit. Just two years ago, the German club paid only €18.8 million to acquire Gvardiol from Dinamo Zagreb.
