Oksana Kobletskaya’s life took an unexpected turn when she discovered she was pregnant again. Already a mother to a 3-year-old daughter, Oksana and her husband Sergey were excited about expanding their family. But little did they know that their journey was about to take an incredible and unforeseen twist.
During Oksana’s ultrasound appointment, the doctor’s reaction was far from ordinary. What followed was nothing short of astonishing—she wasn’t expecting twins, as initially thought, but quintuplets, and perhaps even six babies. The doctor’s stunned expression left her in disbelief. Oksana shared her initial reaction, saying, “The shock on the doctor’s face momentarily stopped my heart. He murmured something like: ‘You deserve to have a big house by the sea…’”. This revelation and the doctor’s astonishment quickly became the talk of the town.
“I felt like I was going to wake up at any moment,” Oksana recalls. The news turned their plans for the future upside down, necessitating a sudden change of course. At the 30th week of pregnancy, Oksana entered the delivery room, where a team of eight doctors was waiting for her. Through a cesarean section, she gave birth to three boys and two girls, all premature but healthy. Their names—Aleksandra, Dariya, Denis, Vladislav, and David—were chosen on the same day they entered the world.
Photographer Julia Guseva, who documented the quintuplets’ first days, expressed amazement at how cooperative the two-month-old babies were during the photoshoot. The photographs captured the essence of their budding connections and the love showered upon them by their parents.
To distinguish between the five babies, each child is adorned with a colored cord tied around their wrist—a practical solution for parents. However, Oksana, the loving mother, doesn’t need such identifiers, as she thoroughly details each child’s unique personality on her blog.
